If you constantly stalk this blog, and I hope you do, you may have realized that this is the second post written about Mezze Wine Bar and Bistro @ Medan Damansara. You can find the Mezze 2016 Christmas Eve Menu in this blog post here.

This post, however, will focus on ANOTHER set menu launched at the same time as the Christmas Eve menu; the special New Year's Eve set menu. Mezze has really gone all out to make sure that this festive season is one where your New Year's resolutions to slim down will need to actually be a reality.


Similar to the Christmas menu, the set menu consists of an appetizer, main and dessert, with wine optional (and necessary, because celebration!) Again, there are plenty of choices for you to make for each course. 

For choice of starters, you really are spoiled. In my last post, I likened choosing the starters to choosing your first Pokemon. This is no different.

For those of you who prefer to enter into the New Year with a bit of greens in your system, the Lobster Salad with Persimmon Fruit is a perfect starter for you.

The plump lobsters are freshly prepared and when paired with the persimmon and leafy salad, it's definitely something that will both make you long for more, while leaving you ready for your next course.

If you think that salad isn't that much up your alley, go for the Crab Chowder with Sweet Corn Foam.

Packed with the unmistakeably rich taste of crabs and the sweetness of the sweet corn, this chowder aims to open up your appetite for what's to come. It does have a pick of spiciness but that adds to its flavor more than anything.

If neither salads nor chowder is in your radar to usher in the New Year, go for a simple dish of Roast Vegetables with Chimichurri Dressing.

The simplest things are sometimes the best; a quote I will bring with me into 2017. The vegetables are seasoned to absolute perfection, and will definitely please those who love chowing down on veggies.

After opening up your palate and your stomach with the starters, the mains will be ready and raring to go. 

I used "raring" because the first choice you can make for your main course is the Tournedo Rossini with Royale Sauce & Foie Gras.

I didn't know steak and foie gras were a thing, but after taking my first bite of this heavenly combination, I am glad this is a thing. The foie gras provides another level of richness to the already delicious steak, which makes this a flavorful surprise for anyone who wants to enter into the new year with a bright smile on their face. 

If you don't want to have a taste of heaven (or your dining partner has already ordered the above), you may consider going for the Roast Duck Fillet with Coffee and Peach Coulis.

I'm not a huge fan of duck meat, but I was hooked. The duck breast fillet was roasted just right, and when paired with the peach coulis, is flavorful.

If both steak and duck aren't in your "to-eat lists" of 2016, go for the Cod Fish with Macadamia Crunch and Spelt Risotto.

Baked cod fish served on with crushed macadamia nuts and a bed of risotto, and topped off with hazelnut puree and roasted tomatoes, this dish may look simple but it's tantalizingly delicious, especially if you're a seafood lover. The cod fish is baked to perfection, and fresh to the bite. 

Desserts are a joy that will bring you into your 2017 with a smile on your face, and Mezze knows this. 

The Profiterole with Vanilla Ice Cream reminds me of a cream custard bun; with vanilla ice cream in the middle and covered in hot chocolate sauce and a hint of Bailey's custard.

It's something you should pop into your mouth and just wait as the flavor hits you. That or brain freeze. 

My personal favorite dessert is the Douceur Cafe Caramel, which is more of a dessert drink than a dessert.

It reminds me of the 3 layer tea served at most kopitiams, but when you actually dig into it, the 3 flavors mix and mingle into a coffee explosion for your tongue.

So why not celebrate the New Year at Mezze? Ring in the New Year with a meal fit to end 2016. The Mezze New Year's Eve Set Menu is only available on the 31st of December 2016. Reservation is definitely encouraged, and the price set at RM185++ per person. Like in the Christmas menu, there's also a choice of wine for an additional RM140++ for 4 glasses.
