Restart

10:51:00

It's been a long 3 months of absolutely doing nothing. Some people, like my friends who have already started working and are stuck in a traffic jam for approximately half a day, every day, would say that I have a blissful life. Others, like my beloved parents would constantly complain that I'm lounging around the house like a slob for approximately the whole freaking day, every day.

But those days are coming to a swift and sudden end, as the humdrum of university life beckons me once again. Yes, the same university life that I have left behind back in Melbourne 3 months ago, after kicking the final exams' ass. I don't know if I'm ready to get back into the groove of attending lectures (or skipping half of them), rushing to finish assignments and generally be a good student. These 3 months have left me a soulless shell, a zoned-out zombie, a disgusting douche whose favorite thing to do is to laze.

The question I asked myself every day for the past 3 months.

"Why have you not been doing anything productive?" the chorus which I can only imagine echoing from my screen, "It's 3 whole months!" Yes, I admit that I've been nothing but a pig for the past 3 months. You have to consider the fact that I wake up at the crack of noon, and sometimes, I wake up just before dinner. I'm not proud that I can sleep as much as a koala, or that I spend more time with my bolster than with normal people. It'a amazing I get so much done in such a short time.

As for being productive, I've been spending most of my time familiarizing myself with the latest gems of the film making industry. I spend hours scrutinizing every scene of every movie, just because. I've also been spending a lot of time watching my absolute favorite show, Running Man, and even more time researching for more stuff to write about it for my Running Mondays column. I've also been pretty engrossed in slowly whittling down the mountain of books I bought courtesy of the Big Bad Wolf sale. I also just realized that all my productive activity is making me very, very antisocial.

But now that uni life will be restarting, it's back to the grind of focusing on assignments, going for classes, meeting up with friends and studying for exams (who am I kidding). It is my final year after all, and to screw up at the final lap of my university life would be a terrible waste of the past 2 years of hardcore studying (again who am I kidding). But through it all, I'm really, really looking forward to going back to university. I really am.

A close friend told me this: "I'm looking forward to going back to university, just without all the assignments and exams." I echo that sentiment. But after all the months of being a slob, it's time to hit the restart button. Here's to my final year uni life.
